Liberty Christian School (LCS) was founded by Liberty Church, PCA, in September of 1980, turning a long-time vision church leaders and members had for a Christian school into a reality. The church provided significant financial support and guidance for the new school that was originally housed in the lower level of the church facility.
The school’s first student body consisted of 30 pupils in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. In 1981, LCS grew to include a first grade class, housed in the block building beside the church. The school added a grade level each consecutive year until 1989, when the school reached its current Kindergarten through eighth grades.
The school officially moved from the church building to its own separate quarters in 1982. As the school continued to grow, two wings were added over the years, housing new classrooms, a media center, a gym, and a fully furnished science lab. The school’s most recent construction project, a kindergarten area renovation designed to support the learning goals of Liberty Christian’s K4/K5 program that was introduced at the start of the 2012-13 school year, was completed in 2014. In 2015, LCS celebrated 35 years of offering a Christ-centered education to students in the community.
Liberty Church continues to support the school financially through the tithes of its members and the rent-free use of the school building. To see more about Liberty Church PCA, visit their website at libertychurchpca.org.
