Dear Parents,Children's health needs have become so complex and many food allergies exist in our LCS community. While nuts (of many kinds) are a common allergy and should be avoided, there are other common food allergies including gluten, dairy, chocolate, fruits, shellfish etc. The link below speaks to the "Top 8" most common allergens and suggests some safe alternatives, as well as brands that limit or eliminate the chance for cross contamination between their products. It is always safest to contact your classroom teacher and/or the school nurse before bringing in food for the classroom.
