Congratulations LCS Robo-Lions for qualifying to the VEX Worlds Championships!
On Saturday, March 12, 2022, two of the four LCS Robotics Teams competed in the VEX IQ “Pitching - In” Maryland State Championship. One of our teams came home with a spot in the World Championship. Team C was awarded the “Build Award”. The “Build” award is given to a team that presents a robust robot that holds up under competition conditions, with an elegant and efficient use of materials. The robot is constructed with a clear dedication to safety and attention to detail. To earn this award the students had to build a reliable robot and describe the building process to the judges. The team has been an example of dedication, devotion, and hard work.
This award has qualified them for a spot at the VEX Worlds Championship in May in Dallas, Texas. At the Worlds Competition, Robotics teams from all over the United States will be competing in addition to teams from the countries of China, Canada, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, South Korea, New Zealand, Finland, Taiwan, Australia, and more. What an accomplishment for our teams considering we did not begin our season until the beginning of November. All of our teams have used this short amount of time to do amazing things together!
While this is an extremely exciting opportunity that awaits them, this team will now unexpectedly be traveling with their families to Dallas, Texas, at the beginning of May to compete over a four day period. Registration for their team is $1200 plus the additional expenses of traveling and lodging for those four days. Anticipated costs will exceed $2000 per family. Please prayerfully consider partnering with these parents by making a donation to help offset their costs.
All donations payable to Liberty Christian School for this Robotics team are tax-deductible. You can submit a donation directly to the school by cash or check, or with a credit card by paying online. Please reference “Robotics Worlds Competition” along with your donation. All donations will be equally distributed amongst the families to assist with registration and travel.
